Jim Baun is a pioneering clinical and academic sonographer who has been practicing and teaching since the early days of the profession. Jim began his career at the University of Toledo Medical Center when ultrasound equipment was powered by vacuum tubes. Since then he has served on the faculties and advisory councils of numerous sonography programs and has developed ob/gyn registry review courses for both students and nationwide seminars. Widely published in sonography, he has contributed chapters to several major texts, presented lectures at regional and national educational conferences, and participated in the development of educational standards for accredited sonography programs. In 1997 he was elevated to Fellow of the SDMS. Jim lives in San Francisco, where he enjoys painting, writing, and hiking along the Golden Gate with his dog Mickey. |
